If you’ve played the digital collectible card game Magic: The Gathering, you’ve probably heard of Legends of Runeterra. Based on the same game mechanics as Magic, the developers at Riot Games wanted to create a more accessible collectible card game. In other words, they wanted to make it easier to get into the game and have fun playing.
Characters
In Legends of Runeterra, players can choose from a variety of champions. Each character has its own strengths and weaknesses. For instance, some champions have superior combat or are more suited to certain situations than others. Other champions are more suited for a certain style of play.
The game offers a variety of ways to play, from experimenting with different combinations of champions from different regions to learning about different cards in the meta. As you gain experience, you can also earn power-ups and unlock new champions. By combining champions from different regions, you can create your ideal deck.
Regions
Runeterra is divided into regions, each holding secrets of unimaginable power and champions to help you reach victory. Players must choose which side they want to represent, and then take on the challenges that each region brings. From bravely traversing the frozen wilderness to facing the spirits of the Shadow Isles, Runeterra has it all.
The regions have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. For example, in Noxus, the best play is to have a strong team with cards that boost your team’s stats. However, it is best to use champions that complement your team. For instance, if your unit is weak, you can choose to use a champion with a higher attack power.
Mana system
In this card game, mana is a key resource. Every champion begins with a fixed amount of mana. This amount increases by a small amount with every level. You can also increase your maximum mana with various abilities, items, and runes. In addition, bonus points directly affect this statistic.
Runeterra’s mana system is particularly complex. During each turn, each player draws one card and gains Mana. Players can then spend their Mana to place cards onto the board. Unspent Mana does not disappear, but is available for use by other players.
Deck building
Deck building is an integral part of the Legends of Runeterra experience. The game allows you to build decks of up to 40 cards from one region. This gives players the flexibility to mix and match champions and cards from different regions. In general, decks should focus on a single champion or region, though you can combine cards from two or more regions.
It is possible to export your deck and share it with others. Each deck contains a unique code, which can be imported to a client. If you have a missing card, it will be highlighted in red in the deck builder. If you have any questions about what cards are missing, you can right-click on the card and see how many copies are required to craft the deck.
